With rising soft commodity markets, wouldn't it make good sense for CSR to proceed with its demerger. It may be premature for the company to accept any offers before completing its split. The Bright Food Group proposal is not a firm offer. Brights may merely be just testing the waters. Given the number of interested parties in the sugar business seen last year and forecast market trends, there may be other buyers waiting to pounce once the operation is separated. Besides, if CSR management is to be believed, then even if no buyers emerge in the short-term, the sugar, renewable energy (ethanol and cogeneration) and fertiliser businesses are expected to experience high growth in the future.
