Not quite correct. Retail mostly trade online without the use or cost of a broker. Brokers indicate more sophisticated investors that rely on advice and pay for that service with higher fees. That's why when people refer to brokers buying or selling they are usually referring to pro money or insto's. Some retail use brokers and some retail are just as smart if not smarter than brokers but it is generally a given that brokers are trading higher end soph's money.
