The movie is not fictional it's based on a non fiction book written by a trader who actually did the big short before the gfc and won. Watch it you might just learn something.
For the other gentlemans comment about the CEO taking advantage of irrational selling. Well he only bought a token amount of shares nothing compared to what he sold before. So I would say he's not that confident about the company. Since he bought that token amount the share price has dived more than 10% so even that wasn't a good investment but for him it's peanuts.
Meanwhile the share price has hit a new low today.
