Why should we look at it - because it powered the Bristol Beaufighter which was built in Australia (at Avalon? near Geelong) It was a real buzz of an aircraft - large, strong, fast, it could carry all the bulky radar of the day and had 8 machine guns in the wings and 6 cannon up front. DYOR.

We do still make aircraft in Oz - The Tiger attack helicopter is made in Brisbane, but we should make much more - pollies are spineless.
