They were indeed primitive but I would not call them backward. They lived simple lives, living off the land with the need for material possessions. If not for the greed of poms for more land an wealth they could be still be quite happy living that peacefully life

Dolphins are regarded as one of the most intelligent mammals on earth, some would say even more intelligent than humans, there are lots of dumb people. Dolphins live at one with their world with out a need for anything and if you ever seen dolphins they seem pretty happy, our first nation were pretty much like that until so called civilisation came along.

Funny we use the word civilisation but in many senses we are far from civil, throughout history so called "civilisation" has waged war and conflicts all motivated by greed
