    @VegasGM - Buckley was an escaped convict who lived among the Aboriginal tribes of his time, but came from rural England, where belief in Fairies, goblins etc. abounded - he probably mistook the Aboriginal stories of their Dreamtime for real. The area the Palldurgbarrans, also called 'Gadubanud' lived in was rich in food of all kinds, both edible plants, tubers and lots of small wildlife, including shells - they would not have needed to eat humans - it was probably a misinterpretation of funeral rites or their stories - how come, he he have survived, if they were so fond of eating humans?

    I have heard of occasional cannibalism (directed at the white intruders) among Northern Aboriginals, but never followed it up.
