Scientists first tinkered with Rare earth in Sweden..in 1787.
They found only one element..Gadolinite.
It wasnt till the 1940,s using Spectroscopy,that they finally discovered the 17 elements.
By 1803 they found 2 more Yttrium and Cerium.
By 1842 ..six were discoveredAdd Lanthanum,didmium,erbium,terbium.
Another 30 yrs to find Samarium....and another 30 (1901) Europium.
So here we are about 225 yrs on...and we are still tinkering.
All the supply /demand estimations are guesstimations as new inventions are yet to evolve from these really remarkable elements.
Cerium is already the mother of Invention...No Cerium..No color TV...and I wont list the hundreds of useses the other elements triggered......AND YET TO TRIGGER.
If car manufacturers find alternatives..fine..that still leaves thousands of applications where no alternatives have been found.
Trust Science...remember its a GREEN World we are heading for..the world of REE,s.
Can you think of any other element dug from mother nature as versitile and usefull as rare earth.
Its the story,the history,the future that attracts us with its powerfull magnet.
