Alexander Downer (Foreign Affairs Minister-and a very succesfull one, should be added) clearly stated and admitted yesterday that for a year now our Government has been having ongoing negotiations with the Chinese Government for over a year re: Chinese investment in Uranium projects-companies in Australia.
He also said that when the Labor Party drops its opposition to the establishment of more Uranium Mines (abandoning thus their archaic 3-mines Policy), the Chinese will enter Our Uranium Mining Arena......
Now, while mr. Downer was pragmatically stating the above , the Labor Party shadow Foreign affairs minister mr. Kevin Rudd was in Beiijing.......
How apposite indeed for the Chinese to ask him in a nice and diplomatic way......
"Mr. Rudd.....Everything you are saying sounds very nice
and we entirely agree with you......But .....What is your Party going to do with that antiquated and anti-progress 3-Mines (Uranium) policy"? After all we are going before long going to be your #1 trading partner......And in order to continue doing so we need development and for development ....... Energy -clean energy- is of paramount importance to us......and as you know mr. Rudd, we are prepared to sign all the necessary safety and non-proliferation aggreements with you guys....).....
What do you think is going to be Kevin's reply? What is he going to do upon his re-entry to Australia?
I bet, he is going to meet straight away with mr Ferguson and all the other pragmatists and in the 21st century living Labor Party bigwigs,so that they can bring about (precipitously) a change to their anti-Uranium mining policy..........
