Why would anyone have Waleed Aly as their only reference point for Muslims when most of them have met Muslims at some point in their lives and they have plenty of other examples of Muslims being portrayed in the media, most commonly in relation to news events around terrorism or war? He might well hold himself up as an example of Muslims (every individual ever born is an example of their religion/nationality/race) but given the broadness of that application it's entirely meaningless.
