He got the trial he requested. None. He was found fit to stand trial months earlier so your 'he's too retarded' line doesn't cut it.
He was never found, by any psychiatrist or psychologist anywhere throughout his life that I'm aware of, to be mentally ill to a point where he couldn't understand the difference between pleading guilty or not guilty or didn't understand the consequences of killing someone. Not caring that you've done it isn't the same as not understanding.
If you plead guilty, you are requesting to not stand trial. So he didn't have one. He was given 7 months to try to come up with a defence between him and his lawyer/s. They couldn't.
