"So we have Australia's biggest mass murder,
we have grave doubts about the whole episode,"

WE being a handful of internet trolls, usually from the mainland or overseas with no personal knowledge of the area or people, and no valid reasoning for this to be any sort of conspiracy, who want everything dragged back up to satisfy their own curiosity. No matter how many times a bloke pleads guilty (which was about 72 times for memory), no matter how many people he confesses to still to this day, no matter how many witnesses were there on the day. Just want everything to be a conspiracy for no good reason.

From a man privvy to all the evidence (which doesn't exist apparently), Justice Cox in sentencing: "The prisoner has shown no remorse for his actions. Though he has ultimately pleaded guilty, it has clearly been done in recognition of the undoubted strength of the evidence against him and amounts to little more than a case of bowing to the inevitable. That his change of plea has saved considerable distress, inconvenience and cost to those who would have had to be called as witnesses and to the victims and community at large by the prolongation of the proceedings is a factor which should be considered in his favour when weighing all the relevant considerations, but in the overall scheme of things, it is, in my view, overwhelmingly outweighed by the factors militating against him."
