Don't bother too much Iwonder. We know he was considered quite a nice looking individual, even in adulthood. So people who saw him playing about locally when a child may have thought he was OK. Not much value in predicting what he was capable of doing as an adult. Once his father was gone, and his benefactor died, he was left without support. He should have been under the care of someone so that guns and bullets and cars (all of which he had no licence to have) would not have been in his possession. His mother appeared not to have a close relationship with him. She has never said he was not guilty only that he should have pleaded "Not Guilty". Not the same thing at all.
