Sadly, our market seems inflicted with a residual of the Menzies era, which in itself was a direct product of British conservatism.
In short, the market both encourages and indeed induces mediocrity from all who participate and punishes as often as it can those who push beyond its enforced envelope. It has been entrenched in our psyche that 10-15% returns "annually" are all that are safe and all that should be expected. Anything else we are lead to believe is an unnecessary risk!
Meanwhile, those who enforce such views are making 2, 3 10 times this every year. It really is a case of do what I say and not what I do!
In effect, both our expectations and indeed the system itself proliferates a mediocre state...and most of us do not even know it!
Sadly, on the whole we are nothing but a bunch of yellow cardigan clad, bean counting, briefcase hugging, house-bound agoraphobic, non-achieving "safety" dweebs, so intent on "protecting" our capital behind non-performing "excuses", that we have lost the capacity to be brave enough to think for ourselves.
This state is inflicted on us from a system intent on milking the masses for the benefit of a select few.
Achievers are hamstrung so they do not get above the rest, creators are ridiculed for being different, inventors of new ideas are shunned for fear of making everyone else look average and success does little more than attract tall-poppy syndrome.
In fact, it appears the only form of success allowed by the system comes in the form of sporting prowess or media “celebrity”, but this is only allowed because it proliferates the dumbing down of the collective via a redirection of effort towards “entertainment”.
As was exercised by the Romans via the events in the Colosseum, today’s society is “distracted” via sport in our own Colosseums such as the MCG, or at the hands of various other forms of entertainment from any number of media types.
We are all far to busy being entertained to question our lot!
Remember, we were once scared into believing the world ended at a massive cliff into an abyss of the unknown...one assumes to help control the movements of the population and leave "exploration" and the rewards that come with it to the state. This helped enforce a somewhat mediocre view on life, clearly helping with crowd control at the time. In a similar way, religion was centralised and bought under authoritative control, which was perhaps the most effective anti-progress device available prior to the advent of politics and government.
But I digress.
CVI will do what CVI will do, your state of mind will simply dictate the nature of ones participation in the process.
