Well, it is true that retiree depends upon dividend and hence something that provides them that but it should be provided while maintaining capital value in my opinion. In last 5 years your third point doesn't sees to be correct price gone down steadily.
Again, those invested in 1999 probably getting better dividend and they would be careless of those who invested in 2017 onward who are loosing capital value over last 5 year in my opinion.
