I think someone needs to make the call to release to the playstore only if there is going to be potentially weeks more on the appstore. It's a non issue to me but the market is going to be pissed for another delay, no matter wether they are at fault or not.
Sure it sounds good to do worldwide release on both at the same time, but it's not like we have the whole world watching this release... Just get it out there, many apps have way longer between appearing on both anyway.
