fruitloop: "s it normal for the chairman of a large company to come out and spend a week looking at drill stuff and a mining operation?"
Good will, positive PR spin, family vacation, all, just don't cut it as an explanation for such a visit in, as the Chinese blessing-curse goes, "interesting times."
Too early to ascribe any preliminary "kicking the tires" for a future t/o. Though there are very few semi-developed producers (Sn being the ingredient not yet quantified) worthy of Chinese scrutiny; fewer still with such a huge Chinese foot in the door...
The translated news release used the word, "animated:"
There was an animated discussion between Chairman Gao and technicians and exchanged both views.
It is an odd desriptor to use in a miner's news release. Remembering examples of poor translation, contextualizing this news as targeted to Wang's shareholders, I think that "animated" is their to show how deeply engaged, and knowledgeable the good Chairman is in all aspects of the business.
Now, how about some chunky meat to go into the stir fry!
