One thing that I have noticed that has been a theme through the posts from those who were are the investor meeting seems to be their impression of Dirk. (And the good scientist,but I'm less worried about his personality as he is just 'the brilliance)'
Everybody seems to have come away very impressed with Dirk, and that is a big deal for the company given he is essentially now in control of day to day running of Alexium.
It's shows how far this company has come.
Once upon a time Nick and Gavin would need to have attended this investor briefing, but now Dirk seems to have demonstrated that Alexium is not going to fall in a hole the minute Nick isn't at the helm or Gavin executive chairman.
It does seem that at this stage recruiting Dirk and putting him in charge maybe have been the smartest move for the company. It even sounds like Dr Bob was quite comfortable leaving his scientists to carry on their servicing of customers without needing him to be there.
When a company has had such a leader like Nick, it can be tricky to get the right person to succeed him, as the bar is very high, however some leaders are better at developing and fostering relationships than attending to the more mundane tasks of running the company , and I suspect Nick is in that boat.
Therefore we will get the best out of Nick in Washington and have reliable overseer in Dirk.
