Hi the question below was one of 5 questions put to the company AGM last year . Someone else can share the thread if you need it .

Approx 8.5 out of 10 patients receive some benefit from PPS. Before you invest in PPS using the SAS program you should definitely get an MRI done and make sure the doctor is confident that you have a relatively large BML to make you a good candidate for PPS and to warrant the spend . I am sure the company is planning research at a later date as to why the drug works on most patients and not others.

Q18. My wife participated in the PPS trial earlier this year for her right knee. She had an MRI and was diagnosed with mild to moderate OA. She completed the 6 week trial however did not experience any benefit in terms of reduction in pain. During the follow up consultation she was advised by the doctor that a follow MRI was not required and the comment from the treating doctor was that Pentosan does not work for everyone and they don’t know why. My wife got a second opinion from another specialist physician who is familiar with PPS. The doctor examined the pre trial MRI and the comment from the physician was that my wife was not a good candidate for PPS as she had a relatively small BML and would unlikely to have received any benefit from PPS. Is the company seeking to improve the overall efficacy in the planned PH3 trial by better screening patients and if so how? What research has been done to understand why Pentosan works for some patients and not for others?
