Being doing a bit of reading of Arab ME press. Gives you a different perspective. The highest concentration of anti-US nutters,I can assure you, is not in the ME but on HC.
Though there is some uncertainty and suspicion about the US motives I gain the impression that there is grudging respect for what the US has done and is doing. It is suprising but even the Iranians don't seem to have the twisted conspiracy type mentality that our resident nutters have. Of course I don't read Arabic but the English editions seem to give a very balanced diet of the commentators.
There is a very interesting article on the return of the exiled shii leader to Iraq and he is now calling for a democratic government that recognises all religions and the rights of women etc.
