Mate, you don't get it. This is all about Putin's ego and his longing for the former Soviet empire. Mother Russia is a pissant economy slightly bigger than Australia with nominal GDP per capita ranked 86 in the world. A fugging tin pot state with nukes and fugg all else. An autocratic state run by corrupt politicians and oligarchs. Nothing more than a failed state. This is Russia's last stand as it has become a global pariah despised by the majority of the planet. NATO has nothing to do with it.
