To put this in a global perspective (from our sublime to your ridiculous):

News from the UK this week:
Fracking for shale gas has been given the go-ahead in the UK putting the country at the heart of what Prime Minister this week described as a potential (world) “shale gas revolution”.

News from the US this week:
Manufacturers have announced more than $90bn worth of investments in the US to take advantage of cheap natural gas underlining how the shale revolution (and fracking) appears to be driving the country’s industrial renaissance.
Petrochemicals, fuel, fertiliser and steel companies are among those that have committed to or are considering multibillion dollar investments based on their ability to source cheap energy and feedstocks.

    News from Canada this week:
Chinese oil group PetroChina is buying a stake in a Canadian shale gas field for $2.2bn, highlighting Chinese growing interest in Canadian resources after the $18bn CNOOC-Nexen deal.

    News from Australia this week:
State-owned oil producer PetroChina has agreed to pay $1.6bn for a 10 per cent stake in a major Australian natural gas project.

In comparison, the only big event in the Northern Rivers this week (total population 300,000) apart from the 6 red-bellied black snakes found in a Grafton shopping centre and Byron Bay tourism figures are collapsing:

"This Sunday on the 16th of December at 10 AM! Everyone (anti-csg) meet at the Sailing Club at the end of Fitzroy Street, Grafton beside the river. This a very family-friendly event.(sic)"

& afterwards we are invited to a protestor’s house “and have a cuppa." !!?

From 10 Downing Street London via the USA, Canada and China our journey ends at a single carriageway road in the back blocks of northern NSW where a bunch of enraged hippies - living on blocks of scrub and bush - protest and vandalise (yes they have vandalised and threatened) outside a wire fence with nothing inside it.

A quote from a Glenugie resident protestor: “People come up here and live on the dole for YEARS. That’s not to say they aren’t socially useful.” & this: “There are no farms here it’s just bush and scrub. The cow is supposed to work for you not you work for the cow.”

I am sure you are pleased when LtG boasts they are holding up Metgasco. Yes it is a nuisance but you and they don’t appear to understand the bore well has no production value. It is merely something to satisfy govt licensing.

As I wrote at the beginning - from the sublime to the ridiculous.

You wrote: "That's going to go over around here like a lead balloon." An oxymoron! a palpable hit! A lead balloon going 'over" and not going "down'. Ya gotta love an oxymoron. You've made my day!
