In relation to the smoking analogy...one of the biggest smokers in the room, China, has committed to reducing CO2 emissions. While Australia may be a little smoker (the biggest in the context of per capita)...every cigarette is doing us damage
'China has committed to cutting its carbon intensity — carbon emissions per unit of gross domestic product — by 40–45% of 2005 levels by 2020'. More needs to be done but while China look to be pushing forward on reducing CO2 emissions Australia is going backwards.
Speaking of smokers, maybe ""Roy Spencer, U.S. Science Team leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer on NASA’s Aqua satellite" is affiliated with the scientists? that persuaded US congress that there is no link between smoking and lung cancer!!
