    And you are surprised.

    While drilling the great deserts of Australia the oil companies have found deep salt layers. By definition salt layers are stable with no water influence. Apart from the obvious roar of "Not in my backyard!!" [Who's backyard for God's sake.] why is that out of the question?

    Germany has old salt mines which could also be suitable for their own waste without transporting it around the world.

    Now I am not an authority of course and I'm only talking reasonable ideas but why say it can't be done BEFORE these ideas are examined?

    Another idea is to "glassify" [the right word escapes me] the waste and to drop it deep in the ocean, on the tectonic plate that is submerging below it's neighbouring plate. There are far greater minds than mine out there: Why not let them study this and find the solution instead of limiting them to AGW?
