My uneducated thoughts on this is that in these cases if these were undiagnosed Covid outbreaks then it would have spread much more widely unless it was a less contagious version that later mutated. The fact there wasn't widespread infection implies it wasn't the current virus.

The bat that is the original host apparently lives in a cave at Yunnan 2000 km away. It is more likely that someone was infected near the cave who then travelled to Wuhan.

Could a tourist sportsperson who went to the Yunnan cave area have been infected, travelled to Wuhan for the military games and visited the Wuhan wet market as part of a typical western tourist experience?

Just thoughts not putting forward evidence.
