It would be more of a worry if it was a low-grade open cut prospect, but a high grade underground mine is much less likely to attract opposition. High grade means only a small amount of waste for the economic value produced, and underground implies minimal surface disruption. You could even argue that it is actually beneficial if it replaces the need for an open cut mine elsewhere. Of course its not a risk you can rule out entirely but Tasmania also has a long history of mining in this style.
