I would echo those comments and concerns.
I believe to play gold you need to own it. Most gold producers have a SP that mirrors the gold price, save for the downside of production and management risk. Currency is also a risk / reward with physical gold.
As for houses, mmm, I can the hear the town crier warming up to ring the bell.
BCI remains a pretty good option currently - with the lower $A a supuer kicker when the US Fed start tapering in the first half of next year (also not great for gold).
