Logic, reason, science, philosophy and any other means that enables us to approach truth.
Yes, the mainstream religions are bogged down with dogma, superstition, heresy, apostasy, bone headed ignorance, fantasy, a quest for power and dominance. There are not too many positives in how religions conduct themselves, or direct their followers to behave, but we are dealing with religions that are anywhere from 1400 years old to 3 to 6 thousand years old. Any human institution would have rotted to the core in that amount of time. Remember humans are like white-ants they keep chewing away till the building falls down.
Fortunately that is not what we are talking about.
