It wasn't that long ago that we attributed the supernatural to things that we didn't understand like thunder and lightning, earthquakes, and disease to name a few.
We no longer do so but some still attribute the supernatural to things we don't understand.
The world of the supernatural is shrinking as we understand more but still likely to remain popular because the things that we don't understand are likely to be the most difficult to understand.
