    Maybe so, but I refuse to believe a person can completely obliterate the self, the rational common sense to become basically no better than an instinctual animal no better than a donkey, opening and closing their mouths to speak the thoughts and words of others and believing they are performing a G.d given duty.

    People who get tangled up in fundamental religion, the kind that demands sameness of thought, render themselves down to thoughtless instinct. They are fed a program of indoctrination and react thereafter without thought, presenting prefab answers to deep religious, philosophical and scientific questions. They destroy the self and that is the only thing of value to G.d, whatever G.d may be.

    Mr Gordon is in there somewhere. At the moment he is driven by irrational fear. He's ready to drink the kool-aid.
