I think the dilemma of Jesus being all powerful and also humble was recognised early on.

Here is an example from Philippians 2 (New International Version (NIV))

5In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

6Who, being in very naturea God,

did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

7rather, he made himself nothing

by taking the very natureb of a servant,

being made in human likeness.

8And being found in appearance as a man,

he humbled himself

by becoming obedient to death—

even death on a cross!

and gave him the name that is above every name,

10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
