The conglomerates will need to be crushed to very fine fractions as a lot of the gold is locked up in drill and blast mafics hence no need for metal detectors -although they will have some application prior to crushing. In terms of exploration metal detectors are invaluable. Ore sorters would be useless considering the gold distribution characteristics.
