    Was the buyback excessive when u take into consideration the makeup of Telstra shareholder’s …approx 92% would be considered as possibly Mum and Dad investors and probably have a preference for an increase in dividends.

    $1.35 billion vanished or 42% with no great improvement in the share price out off what was paid as either dividends or return of capital thru the share buyback.

    If EPS is taken into account as part of a formula for the CEO rewards….theoretically, price hasn’t moved but the number of shares has reduced thus resulting in higher EPS improving the chances of meeting the rewards criteria.
