As Dimitra points out, intent is the issue.
Your reason for selling is primarily because you believe the price is going down.
Doesn't sound like a wash to me.
You just need an arguable case that your buys and sells were motivated by something other than tax.
The longer before buying it again , the greater change in economic circumstances and the greater amount of information to prompt re buying.
I have in the past written myself emails detailing why I'm selling and then later [if I have re bought] why I re bought . Especially at this time of year just in case my motives are misinterprated , and as an aid to memory.
