In a Christmas message malaysiakini quotes a letter from the minister of Energy, Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment, Minister Yeo Bee Yin. According to the journal she is making waves and is making a name for Malaysia. Nature lists her among the top ten people who mattered this year.
This is the letter which the minister sent to the employees of Lynas.

In the letter she makes clear that there is no escape for Lynas to remove all waste from Malaysia as Lynas has committed to do several times.
She appears well informed. This is a political decision and scientific reasoning will not change her view. Therefore to get rid of the current impasse I think Lynas should take the relatively small loss of waste removal as quickly as possible and focus on the increased production for her appreciated rare earths. I held Lynas for several years and made good profits, at the moment I am waiting at the sideline for stepping in at an appropriate moment.
