It's not just about unregistered firearms.
Authorities will be able to check whether a person's licence is suspended or when they turn up at a scene whether the people involved have a licence or firearms.
A significant number of those unregistered firearms are owned by people with gun licences & registered firearms.
Police will be able to check in real time the status of people from interstate.
It's something that should have been brought in after Port Arthur.
