Elsewhere on HC I have expressed dismay at what I regard as media 'group think' & gutter journalism. For most of my life I have held that entire 'profession' in very low regard. I note with concern Lindsay Tanner's recent assertions that such developments & the 24/7 news cycle is further corrupting our political systems.
As I have stated on other posts, IMO Andrew Bolt is a person of intellect and by no means incapable of high standard journalism. IMO though he has other agendas.
IMO genuinely 'investigative journalism' has almost become an oxymoron. Developments such as Wikileaks & top level journalist phone tapping exposed in the UK pose serious risks to privacy & to security. Are journalist researchers or spies?
IMO the use to which such material has been put has been highly questionable. Small wonder these charlatans masquerading as investigative journalists assert the need for protection of their sources - an essential mechanism for covering their tracks.
