WORLD STOCK MARKETS: Jo'burg pressured by gold

Johannesburg fell to its lowest level since December as gold stocks came under heavy selling pressure. The all-share index fell 2.9 per cent to 9,920.12.

Gold Fields fell 7.5 per cent to R118.40 and Harmony Gold lost 3.4 per cent to R149.50.

Mining stocks retreated after UBS Warburg lowered its price targets for stocks in the sector. Anglo American slipped 3.2 per cent to R158.44 and BHP Billiton fell 6.8 per cent to R49.89.
