After the episode of child abuse that an ex Governor General tried to cover up, I doubt that any religion can point the finger at the RC's. It's probably worse than other Christian religions because the Catholic Church has vastly more adherents and its stupid insistece on celibacy.
The problem lies with the fact that religious leaders are held in too high an esteem by the general community and, until now, have not been held accountable for their actions. This probably applies to many religions, such as the Islamic religion, that are autocratic and deem women to be of a lower order.
