Having been caught out in previous years, people should be very careful about buying MRE today and expecting to receive the rights entitlement.
Melbourne Cup day is next week, and although it is a trading day, it somehow throws the relationship between ex-dates and record-dates out of kilter.
I know this because I have been caught out before buying companies supposedly with dividends which were in fact erroneously ex-dividend.
So check and double check.
