    You need to remember that active managed funds are not passive holders of stocks in the sense that they will generally buy and sell according to two things, their level of conviction over time and in response to equity flows in their funds. So regardless of their conviction, several scenarios can occur. Firstly, their position may be reduced as other higher conviction stocks are discovered. and the manager sells down one to weight to the other. Secondly, if a fund recieves a large level of investor redemptions, they have to sell down positions regardless (and vica versa).

    I'm not saying that the presence of T. Rowe is not a positive, because it obviously shows that institutional investors are getting more comfortable with the business. However, it is potentially dangerous to postulate that the presence of a large manager puts a floor price under a stock. They are subject to lots of forces driving their positions and not all of them directly relate to their belief in a particular stock.
