Don't doubt, you have it covered pretty well. Generally you can choose to be a trader but you don't have to. I don't think you need an ABN actually pretty sure you don't but you must show that you are trading so the things you mentioned and others like dedicated software etc will do this.
As a trader the tax process is totally different and no discount it's just like running a business selling widgets.
