    As a ham radio operator in years gone by, I noticed that communications radio at 7.53 in the video. A quick search reveals that it's got the very latest tech. Gone are the days of soldering a bunch of parts together to get some very basic radio functions. All functions in this radio are "software defined", (math equations replace tuning, filters, modulation, frequency generation, encoding etc) using digital signal processors (DSP). It's like having a dozen radios in one small box. They can even clone whole radios by copying software from one to another.
