thinking out aloud - The screenshot showed AMEX as a credit card option beside SplitIt, I am not 100% convinced that it was performing the merchant funded facility capability as it could be just one of four credit cards offering installments. I went into the GEMSNY website to see for myself and it is exactly as shown in the screenshot.
In other words I cannot assume AMEX is providing the funding to the merchant upfront.
