GW - post purchase installments have been going on everywhere for ages, you don't need Spilit for that.
In answer to the question, no you can't interpret it that way and here is why. The patent clearly states - "as part of a transaction between a merchant and a purchaser".
The key parts being it is as part of a transaction, not post or after the transaction has been made....and it is between the purchaser and the merchant....not between the purchaser and the lender. As has been said, these post purchase installments are not Splitit patent dependent.
Sorry I have to bow out of this conversation now, and I don't intend to be to abrupt, but this is really a basic part of understanding what people are investing in here.
I hope PayPal and CiTi and Splitit do arrive at some BNPL PoS solution.....but that is not by any means evident here.
