I believe the Visa deal is the game changer - execute and the game is on, don’t execute the game is over.
For anyone interested the June 2019 announcement of Visa that they were entering BNPL with “banks and merchants”, just prior to announcing Splitit / Visa arrangement 8 months later, earlier this year.
In hindsight the original SMH press articles (June 2019) had two interesting elements: - the photo of Gil Don in the article, but no real mention of Splitit at that time; and - Visa stating they “intend to pilot the new BNPL platform by January 2021”. (This was prior to Splitit announcement).
