Agree on the small producers front, there will be some junk all thinking they can charge $300 for a 500ml bottle like LRK does. Might get some market share taken away but they will return to LRK. They don't have Chris Thompson running their operations ensure only top notch stuff is being released. Cant buy the brand and name that lark has either - that costs 30 yrs of sweat... Unless you can go win yourself a big award, easier said than done. As long as Lark doesn't release crap, they wont fall into that field. They are also looking to move to export this year (real volume next year - 2023). So it doesn't really matter to Lark if the aussie scene gets locally tarnished, as long as they stand above it, which they will I have no doubt. It only really matters in the end how Lark sits in the global context. Finalist of whisky distillery of the yr on the IWSC for 2021 (i.e. top 4)... Suggests there isn't a problem here. That's just my 2 bob. The competition will just spur them on to better things.
