"Mr Nahan indicated last month the Government would struggle to keep fees and charges at that rate, and increases of at least 5 per cent are tipped for electricity and water, sewerage and drainage rates."

Income from PWEP will rise by 5%, if this budget forecast is correct. That is a pretty hefty increase and it underlines the predicament that the WA government has in power and water.

Expensive upgrades for power generation and water infrastructure will mean the pain will continue. This WA budget will be the 6th in a row that is in surplus.

At some stage they will need to spend some of that surplus to ensure they have enough electricity and water to meet the needs of industry and the public.

The Federal Government has labelled itself the "infrastructure government." If they want to live up to that name, an opportunity exists to help WA overcome it's greatest impediment to growth.

CETO technology is uniquely positioned to address both shortages. If supported by both federal and state governments, it could be done faster and cheaper than upgrading the existing infrastructure.
