SSkim, I dont recall there being time limits being placed on the pilots. I think the DME said that the YouSeeGeeThree can continue their pilots as planned so they may prove the technical and environmental aspects of their program before submitting applications to scale up their use of the technology and development of some legislation covering UCG operations. I think the focus is on establishing envieach of ronmental controls for UCG.
Dex, exactly. This is my biggest 'concern' on UCG for any of the companies out there. As far as prodcution monitoring and control, I am not sure what each of the operators are planning on doing and have been scratching my head for a little while. I certainly believe the technology exists, but it is my opinion that they would be seeking to automate some of these control functions or at least enhance the man-in-the-loop operation of UCG so that combustion pressures can be accurately controlled. I dont think it is unachievable and there must be several service providers out there at present who can offer these types of services that are already offered at plants that involve chemical production.
The Chinchilla trial burn [that should never have stopped if it was so damn good {why did it stop again :)}] operated for such a long time that the tchnical teams must have a good idea of what they are looking for.
Cheers,
SF
