Australia, with the backing of Labor will ramp up coal exports such that the additional coal we export by 2015 will put an ADDITIONAL 500 million tonnes of CO2 pa into the atmosphere of the world.

Australia,with the backing of Labor will give us a carbon tax that aims to reduce CO2 by 35 million tonnes a year by 2020.

Simple maths tells us that this combined policy will add 500-35 = 465 million new tonnes of CO2 per year.

That shows how pointless their tax proposal is.

Surely its a lot cheaper and faster and smarter just to ban all coal exports and save an extra 500 million tonnes of Co2 going into the air?

As a people we would be nuts to accept this combination of paying an ever increasing tax to make a minute CO2 reduction whilst promoting an absolutely huge increase of CO2 via coal export.

The maths is very simple. The increase is staggering but we move blindly forward convincing voters that the minute reduction will change our climate even in the face of the massive increase in coal exports.
