While the rest of the country looks set to test new lows for damn levels and governments put plans in place for alternatives......

Shoalhaven Water’s Acting Director Bill Tomkinson has announced that Level 1 water restrictionswill be lifted across the city from 14 March 2007.

Mr Tomkinson said that the recent rainfall and the prospects of rain in the next three months have meant that it is possible to lift water restrictions.

“We now have the City’s three dams at 98.5 per cent full, three good weeks of rainfall into the city’s catchment area, stable flow above 135 megalitres a day into the Shoalhaven River and good prospects for rain in the next three months,” Mr Tomkinson said.

“With these factors it has been decided by Council’s Drought Management Team to lift the level 1 water restrictions.”
